Ruth Laws was an artist her entire life. She was born and raised in China in a missionary family, and attended school in Japan, where she also taught art.
She came to Canada to attend the University of Toronto. She returned to Japan as the wife of a missionary and raised her children there. When she returned to Canada, she moved to Ottawa and began to seriously study art. Ruth's medium was oil painting, and her imagination shines in her work.
Ruth’s step-daughter, Robin Laws Field, donated her work to us. Ruth died in 2007.
