Kay (Cookie) Cartwright
Several local Kingston artists have kindly donated their works to our Markets and our Store.
Cookie has spent her life in Kingston. She studied Languages and later Law at Queen's University, but her passion was sports. She received many awards for championships and was inducted into the Kingston and District Sports Hall of Fame for golf and women's hockey. Cookie practised Law in Kingston with her father for 30 years.
After retirement, Cookie studied art in workshops and joined the Monday Painters. "It's great to paint in a group," she says "you improve!"
Cookie now belongs to the Tuesday Painters as well as to the Bath Artesans. Her art is exhibited in Gananoque at VAGA (the Visual Arts of Gananoque and Area). As well, she has taken part in various exhibitions around Kingston.
Cookie grew up in the woods, has always loved nature, has travelled avidly and loves the landscapes of Canada. "They mean so much to me." Her paintings are almost exclusively landscapes.
