Joan Running has spent her entire life in Kingston. She started out self taught but then wanted to improve her skills and took painting courses. Over many years, she worked with Kingston artists to improve her painting techniques and learn her craft. She has now painted for decades and enjoys working in acrylics and water colours.
Joan is part of Kingston's Tuesday Painters, a very experienced and highly skilled group of Kingston area artists who enjoy painting together. Joan has exhibited many times with these artists.
One sees from Joan's donation to the Kingston Grandmother Connection ("The Conga Line"), that she has given a humourous touch to her painting. Art is vitally important to her: "Art makes you concentrate on something other than your own troubles, and creating art is a wonderful healing process."
