Several local Kingston artist have kindly donated works to Kingston Grandmother Connection.

Hazel McKegney:

Hazel was born in England but spent most of her life in Kingston. She studied at Queen's University and Peterborough Teacher's College, taught at elementary schools for 32 years and retired in 2001.

Sketching and painting from nature was an important outlet for Hazel even as a teenager. After retirement, she took many art courses, developing her art with water colours for 15 - 20 years, then switching to oil paints for the next 15 years. In Kingston, she has enjoyed painting with other artists in a group, first the Monday Painters and now with the Tuesday Painters.

Hazel has exhibited at the Kingston Public Library and at the Kingston City Information Centre in Confederation Park. She organizes "Plein Air" sessions outdoors for the Tuesday Painters during summer months. These talented painters enjoy being together and in nature areas around Kingston and the St. Lawrence River.

Hazel is a passionate painter with a large portfolio of scenes from nature and architectural sites in Kingston.
