Al J. Casson
Al J. Casson:
Al J. Casson was born in Ontario and resides in Milton. As a youngster, he took great delight in observing the wildlife in his area. What he saw, he drew.
He attended the Ontario College of Art in Toronto and developed an unusual talent for a technique called slipping in pen and ink drawings: in this process, a piece of art is composed entirely of many thousands of miniature dots made with pen and ink. Casson specialized in beautifully detailed and characteristic studies of animals. Working primarily in black and white, his style is unique and brings life into the subjects portrayed. The work of Al J. Casson is an exciting breakthrough in the frontiers of Canadian art.
